Super cool shoes!

A couple of weeks ago I took Isabela to see an Orthopedic Pediatric Specialist here at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth. Her doctor examined her feet and said that they looked very good. We went over the procedures that she had done in the past and he said that in his opinion because she improved in such a short period of time he didn't think that she had club feet. He told me that it was probably just the way she was positioned in the womb but of course there was no way of telling so he would go on treating her as though she had club feet.

The good thing about these new shoes that she has is that they are far less complicated and tedious to put on. Before they were these high top shoes that we had to lace up and buckle and they were permanently attached to the Ponseti bar, but the new ones are a little different. First of all, the Ponseti bar on these shoes is detachable so we can put the shoes on first and then attach the bar separate. Secondly, the bottom of the shoe going up to her ankle is a silicone base and then three leather straps cross over her foot and buckle on the side. We are very happy with them and are excited that they are so easy to put on :)

She will need to wear them until she is 3 years old but at least now she only has to wear them when she goes to bed at night and during any major naps in the day. I took a picture of her in her new shoes and she looks too cute in them!!!

once upon a time...

i started this blog as a way of keeping in touch with family and friends. we moved to guam right after our wedding, so i needed a creative medium in which to share our new life together as newlyweds. as our lives began to change so did our family dynamic! our first addition to the family was our furry baby, kensy, an adorable german shepherd. then our greatest dreams came true when God blessed us with our daughters isabela and anya. almost 7 years later this blog now chronicles our lives as parents and also our kid's lives in both stories and pictures.
