moving back to God's country...and Happy Father's Day!
6.21.10
that's right guys, you are reading that right! the girls and i are FINALLY moving back to TEXAS!!! we're so excited to be moving back home and starting our lives there. i'm so so ready for this new chapter in our lives to begin. right now we're in TN visiting jaccob's family, but in 3 days we're trekking it south to san antonio. i am unbelievably happy to be moving back there and getting to spend time with my parents and sister again. i've really missed out on so much and it'll be nice to be back in the mix of things :)
since isabela is going on 3 yrs. and anya is close to reaching her 6 months it will be nice to have my family around to see the girls grow up. i've "enjoyed" our time in the military, but it will be a nice change of pace. no more moving around every 2-3 years...life will definitely be a lot easier now that i will have my family around to help out with the girls, and it will also be nice to have the abuelitos babysit for us occasionally! when you have kids, especially two of them so close in age, it does wonders to be able to have some adult time, either alone or with other adults :) jaccob and i haven't really been able to go out since we had anya so i'm really looking forward to that.
i've become really good friends with some girls that i've known from high school and church over facebook and being able to hang out with them is going to be great. an added bonus is that they have kids too so our kids will be able to get together and socialize. i can't wait to hang out in a large group of friends, do some grilling outside, talking it up and drinking some beer and margaritas!!! believe me, we know how to party it up over in TX! we're pretty awesome like that ;)
when we get to san antonio we'll be living with my parents for awhile. actually, around 7 months to be exact (or somewhere around there). jaccob is going to ship out with the merchant marines as soon as he can after he gets out of the navy in september. as much as i know he would love to hang out with family and unwind from his almost 7 year stint with the navy he doesn't want us to have a break in pay, so he has to start his new job a.s.a.p. what a wonderful husband i have, don't you agree?! always looking out for his family. that's one of the many reasons why i love him so much...he is such a hard worker and does what he can to make sure we don't want for anything. i love that about him.
speaking of men i love, i wanted to wish my dad a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!! it just so happens that we are in TN for Father's Day and lucky jaccob gets to spend it with his father. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to my wonderful jaccob too!!!! he doesn't follow my blog so he won't ever read that, but i already got his card and i was able to tell him that in person, so he's good to go :)
anyway, a lot of you may know that i can get kind of sappy when it comes to celebrating the ones i love, and this part of the post is certainly not going to be ANY different. so hold onto your seats and grab a tissue because it's about to get a little sobby from here on out ;)
dear dad,
happy father's day!!! so many times you've heard this phrase and celebrated it with the people who love you and yet i know it never ceases to bring a smile and tear to your face. can you believe that this is your 29th year celebrating being a father?! how the years have gone by...from when my sister and i were these tiny little babies, to when we were toddlers running around laughing and playing, to the adolescent years you thought would never end, and now to our adult years when we've become more than daughters...we've become friends.
i truly and honestly can say that i couldn't have asked for a better father than you. from the bottom of my heart i love you more than words can say and i will always give thanks to God for giving me such a positive role model. you have always been there to help me, guide me, care for me and are always putting my best interests above your own. even now that i am a wife and mother i know that i can always turn to you for anything and i appreciate all the advice you still give me to this day. you are the smartest, wisest and most reliable man i know (even more so than jaccob, haha!) and i am and forever will be proud to call you my dad. I LOVE YOU gordo!!!
p.s. just for old times sake here is one of my favorite childhood memories that i recall very fondly... when you were in the army and you would get home from work all exhausted and ready for a hot meal and some quality family time, my sister and i would always ask you if we could help you take off your army boots and you always said yes. my sister and i would smile and giggle and oh so carefully undo EVERY bit of shoe lace all the way down to the bottom and you would just sit back and let us do it, us not knowing of course that every single morning when you had to get ready for work you had to do the shoe laces all the way up from the bottom, when you could have started from the middle. of course you never told us that we didn't have to undo it all the way, but you never wanted to say anything to us because you saw how excited we were to "help you out" and you didn't want to burst our bubble :)
thanks for always putting us before yourself and for being such a loving father.
your daughter,
gabby
