my girls, my girls...

3.14.2012

so i don't know about you, but do you ever not get tired of your kids and how beautiful they are? i seem to be thinking that all the time recently, even with some not so wonderful bickering and non-sharing going on between my girls! haha! kids will be kids, no?! i've been sick for the past two days already with what i can only assume is the flu, and i don't know if it's my much needed relief after feeling like i'm on the brink of death, but i was so happy to be with my girls today and see how adorable they are and how cute they play together (most of the time).

going back a couple of days before getting sick, the girls had a doctor's appointment. isabela was going in for her 4 yr. physical exam and anya was going so she could get a shot that she wasn't able to get during her 2 yr. physical exam. between the two of them they got four shots, isabela getting three out of the four. my poor babies!!! anya did pretty well, but when it was isabela's turn isabela cried and cried (from the top of her lungs kind of cry)! then anya decided to start crying too and well, you can imagine how much noise was coming out of the exam room. lol!

isabela never ceases to amaze the doctors with how tall she is. i get it all the time..."wow, she is tall for a __ yr. old!" yup. she's a tall one. here are her stats:

weight: 44 lbs. (95%)
height: 43.5 in. (98%)

the doctor told me that she was perfect and that she was right on track. i asked her to check on her feet to make sure that they looked straight and were just the way they should be and she said that she could never have guessed that she was born with bilateral clubfeet. since it's been awhile since she was seen by a pediatric orthopedic specialist i wasn't sure if she needed a referral to see one. she told me that as long as i didn't see her feet turning outward (and also that usually by this age there shouldn't be any problem) she would be o.k. i was so happy to hear that! so happy that there is no longer an issue with her feet. we can now safely put isabela's clubfeet behind us and there is no greater feeling than that.

the girls are into that stage now where everything is 'me', 'mine', 'she's not sharing', 'mommy, anya is...', you get the point. i knew it would happen sooner than later and can i just say that i'm already fed up with it!!! omg. really?! i try to explain to both of them that they need to share and it always seems that they have to play with the EXACT same toy the other one is playing with! seriously? with the million and one toys they have upstairs in the playroom and they are fighting over just one toy? talk about ridiculous. when i can't take it anymore, i just do what my parents always did with my sister and me...take said toy away so that neither one of them can play with it. problem solved! haha! why reinvent the wheel, right?

i must say though, even with their 'lows' they definitely have a lot of 'highs'! they can spend hours on end playing with their babies and playing on their leapfrog leappad/explorer. they also have this thing where isabela calls anya, 'mommy', and to be honest i don't know what they are playing but it's role playing and there is nothing wrong with that! a lot of times i will hear 'mommy' and i say, "yes?" and isabela tells me, "no. i'm talking to anya." haha! ok. whatever keeps them entertained. they also absolutely L-O-V-E their kitchen! they are constantly making me breakfast or dinner. so cute! mustard in my pie? well thank you sweetie! kids.

anya is 'talking' a lot more and trying to express herself more which is good. she's eating more and more things she didn't before like peas, beef, and chicken and her favorites are still pop-tarts, mac-n-cheese, jello/pudding, pizza and more recently, chicken nuggets. attitude wise she is still a mess! she doesn't like to listen and follow directions. she listens maybe 30% of the time. not good. i don't know how to change that either. isabela was never like this. i would tell isabela to stop and she would stop. she wasn't always perfect at listening, but the majority of the time she was super attentive. anya could use some work, but i will say that compared to some other kids out there i've seen, she is an angel and quite the little lady! i'm always getting compliments on how well behaved the girls are out in public and that makes me feel like i'm doing something right in raising them.

in efforts to keep this blog real, i have to admit that sometimes i forget, when i'm frustrated and angry at them, that they are just kids. they are not perfect and neither am i. i hate the feeling i get sometimes that i'm doing something wrong or that i'm being unfair to them or getting angry at them for something so small and i think that's one of the worst feelings a mother can have. i know my daughters love me, i just don't want to let them down. they pick up behaviors from me and i need to give them the best example possible. whoever said parenting was easy, right?

so going back to the girls, isabela is so grown up now! she understands so much and surprises me with some of the answers she gives us. just the other day, my hubby told isabela to take her boots off when she's on the couch and she replied with, "but daddy, i need to be stylish in my boots." such a little diva! what can i say, she's definitely related to her abi (her nickname for my mom), always dressed to the nines! she loves to dress up, to watch me in the kitchen and she's always helping me out with things around the house. if i'm unloading the dishwasher, she is right there to lend a helping hand :) she loves dancing and singing and i just love hearing her sing! she has the prettiest little voice. she sometimes acts like a mommy to anya and it's so precious to see her being so sweet towards her. my favorite is when she comforts her like i would. how did i become so blessed with these two amazing, sweet, beautiful girls of mine? God is so good.

i love them both so much and with every fiber of my being. i tell isabela all the time that i love her with all my heart, and then i ask her, "do you know why mommy loves you with all her heart?"and i tell her, "it's because you and anya are a part of mommy's heart!" and i'm not just talking a part (as in like half or something), but more like they are intertwined in my heart as a whole, and without them i would have no heart at all. she seems to love that answer :) at night when i'm saying good night to them i tell them to have sweet dreams and that i love them and isabela always ends the conversation with, "i love you, with all of mommy's heart!" oh my sweet girl. i love you too.

once upon a time...

i started this blog as a way of keeping in touch with family and friends. we moved to guam right after our wedding, so i needed a creative medium in which to share our new life together as newlyweds. as our lives began to change so did our family dynamic! our first addition to the family was our furry baby, kensy, an adorable german shepherd. then our greatest dreams came true when God blessed us with our daughters isabela and anya. almost 7 years later this blog now chronicles our lives as parents and also our kid's lives in both stories and pictures.
