memorial day weekend in TN & road trip madness!

this year we took off from norfolk and drove down to tullahoma, tn for the four day weekend. we were able to leave early thursday afternoon so we could beat the hampton roads tunnel traffic out of norfolk and any we might encounter in richmond. the first two hours were bliss because isabela fell asleep right away, but then it started! from the moment she woke up she was a maniac in the car!!! of course i understand and sympathize with her, being in a car seat without being able to move could not be fun for anyone, but man did she take it to the extreme! we made sure to bring along some toys for the trip but after like 10 minutes of playing with them she got bored and wanted out! i tried to keep her busy and quiet by giving her goldfish to snack on but that too failed after a couple of minutes. needless to say that she was not having it this trip...long ago are the days when she would simply sleep all the way to our destination. at least for our next road trip jaccob and i will be prepared! we're investing in a dvd player for the car and we're going to mount it on the headrest :) we'll bring along some of isabela's favorites like elmo's world and the mickey mouse clubhouse and that should keep her occupied for hours on end! (at least that's what we're hoping!) we'll let ya'll know how it goes!

as for our trip everything was awesome! it was so nice to be around family, hanging out and grilling some delicious hamburgers and steaks, yummy :) isabela was still very shy and didn't really like anyone holding her but papa was really lucky and he was able to carry her and take her outside, all without crying! we were even able to go out for dinner without isabela one night...it was awesome :)

this trip even included a ride on papa's john deere tractor!!! jaccob took her for a stroll and i couldn't help but take a picture, they looked too cute!

yay for tractor rides!!!

isabela had a lot of fun playing with her cousins this visit too! houston and tyler were playing all over the house and occasionally would sit around isabela and play with toys on the floor. it was so cute seeing them play together :) hopefully the next time we visit papa and nana isabela will be chasing the boys all over the house and playing in the yard with them. they won't be the only ones to play with though, cousin amelia will be older by then too so the girls will hopefully have lots of fun playing with toy food and dishes. maybe they can cook us dinner! j/k ;)

once upon a time...

i started this blog as a way of keeping in touch with family and friends. we moved to guam right after our wedding, so i needed a creative medium in which to share our new life together as newlyweds. as our lives began to change so did our family dynamic! our first addition to the family was our furry baby, kensy, an adorable german shepherd. then our greatest dreams came true when God blessed us with our daughters isabela and anya. almost 7 years later this blog now chronicles our lives as parents and also our kid's lives in both stories and pictures.
