our little mermaid?

isabela looking adorable in her swimsuit <3

o.k. so i guess i shouldn't really call her our little mermaid but then again maybe i can? this month while temperatures have been pretty high outside, we decided to introduce isabela to the beach and the pool. water in the summertime, who doesn't love that?! one saturday we decided to meet up with our friend jessica and her friend amy, from north carolina, and her kids abi and wyatt at the beach for a little picnic and fun in the sun! we figured isabela would have a good time, especially with other kids there, and we thought the waves of the ocean and the sand would peak her interest...well let us just say that things didn't go according to our plans ;)

abi and wyatt :) beach babies!

haha! soooo not sure about the ocean!

it turned out that she HATED it!! amy's kids were happy as clams and would even start heading for the ocean when we weren't looking! jaccob was the only one who could hold her (since she's in her daddy stage at the moment) and even with him holding onto her she wanted nothing to do with the sand. he tried swinging her feet into the water but she had this poor, scared look on her face! we tried a couple of times to get her in the water but she just cried :( so much for that idea! we spent the rest of the time just talking and hanging out and eating some yummy snacks :) even though isabela didn't really join in on the ocean fun she was pooped when we got home and went straight up to her room for a nap!

last weekend jaccob's friend nick from work invited us over to his house for lunch and if we wanted, some swimming in his pool. he has a daughter, leah, who is 22 months and we thought that they would have fun together :) well it turned out that another one of the guys they work with went over too and brought his daughter peyton, who is a little over 2 years old. the more the merrier!!! the girls seemed to enjoy playing together, especially with leah's baby dolls and little kitchenette. they were having so much fun! i love watching isabela plays with other kids and seeing her enjoy herself :)

isabela and leah :)

anyway, it was pool time and although i came prepared with bela's swimsuit i was pretty skeptical that she would even want anything to do with the water. jaccob was already in the pool and so i handed her over to him.

at first she didn't know what to make of the pool but after like a minute or two, to our amazement, isabela started smiling and actually enjoying herself in the water!!! we hadn't bought her floaties or anything so jaccob just held onto her the whole time.
he would lie back and swim backwards with bela on his chest and she loved it! even i was able to hold her while jaccob did some swimming of his own and she didn't make a fuss. i would hold her out in the water and she would start kicking her legs!!! it was so cute!

she actually does like the water! in a pool any way ;)

after all our failed attempts of introducing isabela to the water she finally found something she liked :) yay for swimming pools! now i can't wait to take her to the ymca for some swimming in their indoor pool :) who needs hot temperatures and uv rays any way?!

once upon a time...

i started this blog as a way of keeping in touch with family and friends. we moved to guam right after our wedding, so i needed a creative medium in which to share our new life together as newlyweds. as our lives began to change so did our family dynamic! our first addition to the family was our furry baby, kensy, an adorable german shepherd. then our greatest dreams came true when God blessed us with our daughters isabela and anya. almost 7 years later this blog now chronicles our lives as parents and also our kid's lives in both stories and pictures.
