it's been one of those days...

12.11.2010

it actually started last night around midnight, but really, when you're constantly behind your child, patiently waiting for them to start throwing up, it doesn't really matter when it started.

my mom, isabela and i went over to a family friend's house friday night for a girls night out. we had a great time and everything went smoothly until we were getting ready to head home. isabela started coughing this wretched cough and then all of a sudden, wham, there she went, throwing up all over the place. great. this is going to be fun. let's hope the ride home isn't more eventful.

to my astonishment there was no puking in the car. no, that waited until we were at the front door. suffice to say that it didn't stop there. for the rest of the night and all of today, we were constantly changing her clothes (and ours), washing towels, blankets, stuffed animals or anything else that got in the way of the vomit. ewww. it was seriously nasty. anybody who's ever been in our position knows how awful it can be. not only do you have to worry about all the vomit coming out of your child, you have to try and hold it in and not vomit yourself. believe me, i came really, REALLY close to.

we tried giving her some emetrol to help with the nausea, but the 2 tsp. we gave her lasted a whole two minutes in her system before she threw it all up :( poor thing. to make things worse she was running a slight fever, but i couldn't really give her any tylenol or motrin, because she would have thrown that up too. we tried, water, water with gatorade, gerber puffs, and saltine crackers, but nothing seemed to stay down. somehow she managed to get a little bit better as the day went on, and to be honest i owe that all to jaccob. in case y'all didn't know, isabela is a serious daddy's girl. this becomes all too apparent when she's sick and not feeling well. all she wants is her daddy and nobody else. he stayed with her all day, not moving from her sight and i think that's all she needed...she just needed to have her daddy by her side, comforting her whenever she needed it. definitely makes me proud and thankful to God for this man i married. he is the most amazing father to our girls. i love him so much!!!

anyway, it is now 9:45 p.m. and isabela is fast asleep. i think this little 24 hr. stomach bug is on it's way out and for all our sakes, i hope it doesn't rear it's ugly head. we'd all appreciate a much better nights rest than last night!

once upon a time...

i started this blog as a way of keeping in touch with family and friends. we moved to guam right after our wedding, so i needed a creative medium in which to share our new life together as newlyweds. as our lives began to change so did our family dynamic! our first addition to the family was our furry baby, kensy, an adorable german shepherd. then our greatest dreams came true when God blessed us with our daughters isabela and anya. almost 7 years later this blog now chronicles our lives as parents and also our kid's lives in both stories and pictures.
